Written formal EVALUATIONS about my facilitation of the Lenten Study session on Mar 3

Evaluation # 1

Hi Ha Na,

Here is my input from tonight's session for your learning plan.

In sum, I think you did a really good job of facilitating the group. Here are my thoughts:

A.  It became apparent soon into the session that there were a number of people who had not done the reading. This was particularly difficult because the material that we were covering was quite thought provoking. I thought that you recovered very well, dealing with the issue by having someone read out passages and then have us talk about it.

B.  You were very good at keeping us on track. For example when I started talking about what does the Koran state happened to Jesus and there started side conversations on that issue, you politely indicated that you also had some thoughts on the issue but time was short and directed us back on topic

C.  I really liked the way you had us discuss most of the questions together as a group and only one as a small group. I thought that this was a good use of time while still giving us the intimacy of the small group.

I think that the only suggestion that I have to change your presentation was that it was a bit confusing going back and forth between the reading and the workbook. Next time I suggest you refer to page numbers more.

All in all in an enjoyable night. Thank you.

Evaluation # 2

Evaluation of Ha Na Park - March 3, 2013

At a Lenten Study session where a group of twenty people gathered, Ms. Ha Na

Park took the leadership role of “facilitator”.

The group are engaged in a study of relationships between the United Church of

Canada and Islam.

Ha Na provided excellent leadership as she welcomed everyone and opened the

evening with song and prayer. Ha Na explained the format for the evening and
led us through a group discussion for the first questions. She manages to hold a
leadership role without seeming overbearing. When people had finished talking,
Ha Na was very good at summarizing what was said in a way that clarified the
answers.

Then for the next part of the study session, we were divided into small groups and

given questions to wrestle with.

Ha Na invited a spokesperson from each group to speak about the main points

that their group discussion had generated. When each spokesperson was finished,
she asked if there were other folks from that group who had anything to add.

Again at the end of the second answer period, Ha Na very capably “gathered” our

answers together into a satisfying summary of the discussion. As a facilitator, the
folks who I spoke with agreed that Ha Na had led us well. She managed to make
each person feel that their answers had merit.

Ha Na closed the evening with song. We would like to recommend Ha Na as a

very good facilitator.

Respectfully submitted by N.

Evaluation # 3

To whom it may concern.

On Sunday 3 March I attended a Lenten Study facilitated by Ha Na Park. The group

met at Ladysmith First United Church to gain some insight into “United Church –
Muslim Relations Today”

Thoughtfully, Ha Na had the seating arranged in a circle, which created a sense of

equality. The meeting started on time with Ha Na warmly welcoming the group.

Ha Na ensured that all participants had a copy of the study material. She was well

organized and even had an English language copy of the Koran with her, should it be
needed.

After discussing some of the material we were split up into smaller groups. Ha Na

was skilled at stimulating discussion on our findings.

I found her to have good presentation skills and able to hold the attention of

the group. Her warm personality (and lovely smile) contributed to the learning
experience.

This workshop certainly met my expectations.

Sincerely,
