Much concern has been shown about drunkenness, robbery, adultery and lying - sometimes about dancing and gambling - and sometimes about church attendance and zeal in praying and singing. Relatively recently, more heat than light has been devoted to abortion and sexual orientation. Even where second or third parties may be injured by what most consider immoral actions, the concerns just listed remain pretty much at an individual, personal level. They also remain relatively easy to understand, identify, and condemn - or, for more charitable Christians, to forgive. hence their mass appeal. 

Vastly fewer in numbers have been those Christians (and, by the way, those Jews, Muslims, Hindus, or Buddhists) who see the much more challenging and significant more - here, often called ethical - questions entangled in structures and systems.

The saints and theologians we remember longer tackled larger issues and greater challenges: warfare, poverty, tyranny;
